Location: France (Mediterranean littoral)

Commodities: 31 tree species (planted in agroforestry or hedge models in farms)

Scale: PUR project has planted ~12k trees so far. L’Occitane will fund 3k trees in 2020 in 3 fa

Start & end date: PUR Projet began in 2012, L’Occitane started funding the project in 2020 and is currently working on a recommitment for 2021

Project phase: Proof of concept

Type of ecosytem: Garrigue and green oak forests

Project details

Description: Tree planting program to involve employees and customers around the world on the Preserving Biodiversity commitment

  • Landscape approach (mosaic of ecosystems & land uses)

  • Mitigate climate change

  • Support livelihood of local communities

  • Restore biodiversity through habitat restoration & increased connectivity

  • Avoid further ecosystem conversion

Restoration actions: Agroforestry or hedge models in farms (e.g.. hedges, aromatic plants, orchards…) to diversify productions, improve resilience to dry and hot weather and develop biodiversity.
